Mental Preparation & The Challenge

I seem to hit this topic a lot. Why? Your mind is in control of your actions. The more I practice different techniques and applications, a central theme arises. This is so simple and effective it seems almost to simple to be effective. Here is the theme, there is no substitute for perfect practice........
WOW...earth shattering isn't it?

Focusing 100% during practice is the best mental preparation you can do. Period. Here is the protocol:

Getting ready to do your rep like you want to do it in the competition. First, picture it in your mind, then do it, if someone has a video then watch it. If you do this your mind has just done it three times along with being 100% focused on what you have to do or what you just did.

It became clear to me in Casper that one slip can throw the whole thing off. Bottom line I did not practice my starts enough and with enough focus to be 100% confident. A drop in confidence before a race is like a drop of poison in your drink. I know for me had I practiced my starts more I would have been totally confident before my run. Confidence starts in your mend and goes to your body, same as doubt. Get rid of doubt by lots of practice, gain confidence by lots of practice. That is why I try to warm up before a workout with practice and repitition.

Overall its up to you and what you want to accomplish. You have the option of doing nothing or doing a lot. You might not do shit and run your best run, but does that mean you did your best? There is one thing that is for sure.....If you screw up its because you did not prepare....so if you run a shitty run, that is 100% your fault for under preparation.

You owe it to yourself to make the necessary preparations to run your best. Make the sacrifices. Do the little things. Its a lot harder to work hard with 100% focus then to give up, look at crossfit.com do a workout and think you did something. Sure its a good workout but does it make you better at the challenge? Or another thing I see and am sometimes guilty of is making up my own shit on the fly.....when you do this you make up the workout to what you want to do and not what you need to do. Its to close to worlds now.

It is vital to do the little things with 100% focus and intensity. The Challenge is intense so your practice must follow suit.

Its time to come together as a team, for real, and holding each other accountable. Lets be critical of each other, work together, come to practice ready to work and work hard. Its not going to be fun its going to be hard work. But there is no better feeling than coming together as a team and laying it all on the line and accomplishing your goal. If we were a Savings account, now is the time to start saving money, when we get to worlds is when we spend all that money.

"accurate practice is essential. It is not sufficient to believe that we can cope with any contingency when it arises." Curutty
